Future Towns Innovation Hub, 20/03/24, 9.30 – 4.30pm
HealthTech innovation is costly, complex, and lengthy. But through collaboration we can achieve more and deliver targeted and specific outcomes that benefit patients. We believe that device sustainability needs to be at the forefront of these design principles, and in the context of a greener NHS agenda, eradication of single use plastics is more important than ever.
This exciting event will showcase and provide engagement opportunities for regional healthtech research and the wider industry. All attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a tailored audience of clinicians, academics, funders, government agencies, business development experts and support organisations.
The event will involve a series of talks from health professionals committed to responsible innovation from across the UK, as well as our afternoon keynote speaker from Canada. In the afternoon we will facilitate a series of interactive workshops focused on embedding sustainability in the design and development of healthcare technologies to understand your extensive experience and perspective.
The ultimate goal is to establish a cross-sector community of practice involving clinicians, academics and organisations from industry and the 3rd sector who are invested in the sustainable future of healthcare and specifically, health technology design and development. Following the event, we will begin the initial draft of a future policy white paper which will enshrine the guiding principles in the five research areas. This will be prepared by Hatch Ltd, who are a team of expert researchers and evaluators, based within our school at the University of Southampton.
