On Tuesday evening (7 November), the hub hosted a Fishing-Industry and Science Mixer. The evening consisted of around 35 fishermen from along the south-coast, numerous researchers, academics and PhD students from the University of Southampton, including NOCs, and organisations associated with the fishing industry – we had a range of 1 minute pitches from colleagues within the University, and external organisations, where they only had a short time frame to “sell” their research to the fishermen, followed by networking and some great conversations. We couldn’t have done this without the help of Fishing into the Future, who are an independent UK charity, supporting a progressive and modern fishing sector, for more details on the work they do, please visit Fishing Into The Future.
